Client Success Story

I recently collaborated with Sarita, a 32 year old business analyst who came to me after watching another colleague get promoted to a position that they didn’t even know was open and that they would have loved to have.

When they came to see me they were feeling frustrated, angry, ready to quit their job and worried that their friends were fed up with hearing her talk about the situation again.

Over several sessions we took the time to examine what exactly had happened and also clearly define what her work goals were. We found she had some resistance in not wanting to tell their boss that they were feeling disappointed watching others being promoted above them and she also held resistance to clearly expressing that she had the desire and skills to work at a higher level.

We were able to work through the stories my client held about not wanting to challenge their boss who was older and held a more senior position. Once we worked through these stories and found a more useful reframe of the situation, my client felt empowered to have a productive discussion with their boss who had no idea of my clients work aspirations and immediately put together a plan for my clients career progression.

Sarita stayed at the company and is now on track to a senior leadership role. She learnt tools to help her embrace and examine her feelings so she could tune in to the messages behind them. Before coming to counselling she had never viewed feelings as useful indicators and instead saw them as something to be suppressed.

If you want a success story just like Sarita’s, let’s talk
